How do you select the products you feature in your boxes? Do you get to taste them all?
I am a self-confessed health-food-shopaholic! I love browsing my local health food store and markets for new products with peculiar exotic superfoods and learning about their different health benefits, it’s just so fascinating! No matter what someone’s dietary needs are, I would love to be able to cater to everyone. I am constantly on the lookout for new products, making sure that they are Australian or local, preferably hand-made, small batch and that they of course focus on health and wellness. The ingredients should be refined sugar free, gluten free, grain free, vegan or paleo friendly and taste delicious. Some strict parameters to adhere to, but there are so many beautiful products made by passionate health focused foodies which are often hard to find because they are only made in small quantities. Who doesn’t love a chocolate bar that is actually good for them and rivals the taste of Belgian chocolate? These are the type of products that make Bounty Box hampers a treasure box of unique healthy finds!
Tasting is very important! Apart from being highly enjoyable part of my job, there is no point in promoting health and wellness in my boxes if the products don’t excite you.
What do you find most rewarding about your job and why?
There’s a sense of achievement and pride that comes along with spending hours researching products, developing my brand and hand packaging each box knowing that it will put a smile on someone’s face when they receive it. On top of that they can feel good about everything that’s inside!
What is your #1 tip for a healthy and balanced diet?
Eat wholesome from a wide variety of fresh, unprocessed foods and listen to YOUR body’s needs. Don’t go vegan, paleo, low-fat etc. because others are doing it. What works for someone else may not work for you. Focus on the quality of nutrients you’re consuming rather than what you “should be” eliminating. Research into diets changes all the time and the best thing you can do is experiment on yourself and find what’s right for you. Once you become in tune with your body, you can find healthy balance every day without over-thinking every ingredient or calorie in your dinner!
